Please remind your members that there are a number of excellent courses
available to Auxiliarists online, through the Coast Guard and Auxiliary
ELearning platforms.

Indoctrination covers the following areas, which should be of interest to
any Auxiliarist and especially beneficial to our new members.

*	Rendering salutes and greetings 
*	Recognizing ranks, rates, and badges 
*	Displaying proper grooming standards 
*	Wearing various uniforms 
*	Identifying shipboard structures and various vessels and aircraft 

SAR Fundamentals (e-SAR) Course 0432-01

interest to any participant in boat crew, Aux Air, or mobile comms programs.


This course is divided into three modules.  

Module 1 - SAR Organization - provides familiarity with the overall Search
and Rescue system, roles and responsibilities  within, legal implications,
and public affairs.  It is based on real life SAR cases and will require you
to make  judgments on the given facts.

Module 2 - SAR Planning - involves the application of skills and knowledge
of SAR planning.  You will be required to use the information on the
execution of a search and rescue case, including communications, search
patterns, and environmental effects.  It will present SAR cases and will
require you to take actions.

Module 3 - SAR Coordination and Execution - involves the coordination and
execution of a search and rescue case.  It provides examples of SAR cases
that present information related to the duties of the On Scene Coordinator
with the progression of actual SAR scenarios.  These scenarios will lead to
a final SAR exercise.  You will be asked to respond to these situations by
providing the most appropriate actions to be taken.  The SAR exercise will
help prepare you for final exam.

We are also seeking course developers and instructors to work with us in
developing and delivering Auxiliary courses. Candidates should have a good
grasp of Auxiliary training and be willing to work in a computer-oriented
environment. The courses are developed using a fairly friendly toolkit, but
some experience in online education is useful. Once the courses are
developed, we need experienced member trainers to serve as instructors,
interfacing with the students. If you know of someone who might be
interested, please have them see me.
